THANKS SO VERY MUCH !

THE AL STOCKMAN MEMORIAL FUND

THE BLESSING CONTINUES THROUGH YOU!!!!

After years of golfing fun, the Al Stockman Golf Outing has moved beyond the '19th hole' into a new era supporting what may well be the most vital cause in Benton Harbor, G.E.Ds.   The cause is unchanged. Sadly, so is the need.

Each year about 150 teens are condemned to poverty, despair, and most likely prison in a single, badly conceived, yet innocent act.  THEY DROP OUT OF BENTON HARBOR HIGH SCHOOL.  Over the years many attempts to help them gain the dignity and employment a GED offers have faltered and failed.  The BENTON HARBOR STREET MINISTRY is one of very few remaining, with a track record of graduating 6 per year on average for the last six years.

It's what the Golf Outing and now Memorial Fund remembering Al Stockman and the fantastic work of Carol Stockman has supported all these years.

Is it important?  Without it the G.E.D. program will die.  With it you turn drop outs into men and women with dignity and a future.  We take 20 to 30 a year.  It costs $2000 per student.  That seems to be so much better than the average $47,000 per year it costs to house a prisoner.  So often that is the alternative to a G.E.D.  THANK YOU FOR DIGGING DEEP ENOUGH TO HELP!

Thanks to the many people who have worked to make it a great success. The committee was Chris and Beth Brooks. Barb Globensky, Liz Damiani, Scott Schalk Dr. Shirley Stansberry, Carol Fasbender and Carol Stockman.  Big thanks to all who contributed.
